Daily Kos has a report of James Taylor’s mini-concert in support of Senator Barack Obama in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with pictures and 2 YouTube videos from the audience.
It was a true amalgam of young and old, of black and white, and all wore a smile as we were ready to listen to one of the most talented, gentle and reflective singers of our lifetime. James was honored to play for us, thanking the audience a number of times.
Here’s the set list for James Taylor’s Vote For Change mini-tour in North Carolina:
- America the Beautiful
- Something in the Way She Moves
- You’ve Got A Friend
- Sweet Baby James
- Fire and Rain
- Carolina In My Mind
- Wichita Lineman
- You Can Close Your Eyes (with Kim Taylor)
Here are two 35-second clips of “Fire and Rain”:
Iddybud Journal also has a picture along with quotes from James Taylor.
Vibes the Music Blog also has a quick review.
Taylor was encouraging about the upcoming election and his optimism lit up the room. In addition, he proved just why he’s a hero in the music world. Having never seen him live before, I was impressed with his performance.
More videos taken by audience members, some from Charlotte, some from another stop on the mini-tour. Some of these are pretty rough, but it gives you a good idea of what’s going on.
