Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind to be screened for Westport Summer Film Series

The documentary Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind will be screened as part of the first Westport Summer Film Series put on by the Westport Cultural Council, according to The Herald News.

On Aug. 23, “Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind” will be screened. Mitchell, well known to the Woodstock generation for her beautifully crafted folk songs, is much more than a musician. Poet and painter, friend, muse, and sometime lover to some of the greatest folk and rock artists of the 1960s and 70s, she also experimented creatively with jazz and world music. The film tells the story of her artistry, fierce independence, and free spirit. Special guest for the evening is Providence musician Lindsay Adler, who will speak and sing of the talent and enduring influence of Joni Mitchell.

The 2003 film, which was directed by Susan Lacy for her American Masters series on PBS, will be screened at the Dedee Shattuck Gallery in Westport, Massachusetts.
