James Taylor competes with steamship Pathfinder

The Cleveland Plain Dealer‘s John Soeder gives a review of James Taylor’s performance at Jacobs Pavilion complete with a set list. Apparently the steamship Pathfinder was making its way up the Cuyahoga River during a performance of “The Frozen Man”.

It provided a fitting backdrop for a tune inspired by a 19th century sailor on a doomed Northwest Passage expedition, Taylor noted.

And when the ship blasted its skyline-rattling horn, Taylor and his band attempted to jam briefly in the same key.

“Avast there!” Taylor quipped. “Ahoy!”
