411Mania thinks Covers is average

411Mania.com has a review of James Taylor’s new album Covers, giving it a score of 6.5 or average. It’s kind of an odd review because there’s a lot of enthusiasm for much of the album, but then concludes with:

Incredibly average in every way. The album is very comfortable and makes a good listen at times, however there is little redeeming replay value. I wish he would have gone a little bit outside the box rather then sticking to old standards. How cool would it have been to hear him cover “Creep” or “Born to Run”, instead of taking a chance, he stuck with what he knew…
