W & A likes Girls Like Us

Wilson & Alroy’s Record Reviews site reviews Sheila Weller’s Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon – and the Journey of a Generation, giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

[S]he manages to pull off the title’s conceit, showing how again and again the three followed trails shared by many contemporaneous women: forging new models of motherhood, career, and society; the backpacking self-discovery trips; the hard-won sexual self-determination; the relationships built painstakingly on a fresh footing, nonetheless crashing on the rocks of (his and hers) infidelity.
