Apparently Carole King and James Taylor make for great coke music. I don’t mean the carbonated beverage.
In an interview with GayTVblog.com, actress Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady on the ’70s sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” talks about her recent autobiography Here’s the Story, where she admits to a 6-year cocaine addiction in the mid- to late-70s. While not mentioned in the book, the interviewer asks what sort of music Maureen listened to while using cocaine in Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon neighborhood.
Q: One of the things you didn’t mention in the book was the music you would listen to on these all-night coke binges, so I’m curious about that.
A: Oh, definitely the Eagles, “Hotel California.” That was a big album for me in those days. Let’s see … Carole King, James Taylor. And I loved Janis Ian. Oh my God, I used to just listen to her for hours. I thought she was just awesome. Yup, those were the records that were big with me then.
Good to know!
