Hannibal.net reports on Carole King’s appearance in Louisiana, Missouri today in support of Senator Barack Obama.
“My message is that Barack Obama does care about rural communities,” said King, standing near a large cut-out of the candidate. “Barack Obama is the change we need.”
King called the limestone bluffs and colorful trees of the area “gorgeous,” and said she loves “getting out and seeing the country.”
King said her “celebrity gets people in the door,” but that Obama’s message then takes over and she no longer is the focus.
“Once people come in the door, we are all fellow American citizens working to make our country better,” she said.
