Chilled White Whine likes My Opening Farewell

Nancy Ellyn of Chilled White Whine has been posting some great YouTube videos featuring Jackson Browne over the last week or so, along with her thoughts on the song. She’s a big Jackson fan, so probably no surprise there. But yesterday she posted about “My Opening Farewell,” Jackson’s song from his self-titled debut album (sometimes called Saturate Before Using). Bonnie Raitt covered the song on her 1977 album Sweet Forgiveness (and it’s certainly not the only Jackson song she’s covered in her exceptional career.) Nancy posted a video from July 1995 of a concert in Oakland, California, where Bonnie performed the song with Jackson. It’s a great performance with wonderful guitar playing by both. Their mutual admiration and friendship shines through, as well. A really great moment.
