Yusuf visits Madinah

YusufIslam.com reports that Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) has been in the city of Madinah, Saudia Arabia, this week to celebrate the month of Ramadan. While there, he was a guest of the Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz award ceremony.

Whilst there he was a guest at the prestigious Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz prize giving ceremony, an award that is presented yearly to academics who are adjudged to have furthered the development of Islamic sciences in the modern world.

Madinah, known as the City of the Prophet, is where Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings on him) settled in the year 622 AD following his migration from Makkah. In the coming months it will play host to millions of Muslims from across the globe as they visit it both before and after the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The Prophet’s (peace and blessings on him) mosque in Madinah is the second holiest in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and can accommodate more than half a million worshippers at any one time.
