James Taylor a sellout?

The Michigan Daily from the University of Michigan has an article by Matt Emery, who proclaims that James Taylor is a sell-out for appearing on QVC recently.

He then goes on to explain why it’s OK for indie bands to sell their songs to corporations to be used for product commercials. The article doesn’t quite explain why one is acceptable but one isn’t. Is it because James Taylor is an established musician? Or that QVC has, to him, an unfavorable public perception?

What do you think? Did James Taylor sell out for appearing on QVC?
