McCartney to play Israel

Paul McCartney is expected to announce on Tuesday that he will be playing the Park Hayarkon in Tel Aviv, Israel on September 25th, according to The Jerusalem Post and The Associated Press. Tickets will go on sale that same day.

Earlier this year Ambassador to Britain Ron Prosor had sent letters to McCartney and Ringo Starr inviting them to perform in Israel to celebrate its 60th birthday. The gesture was seen as a retraction of a 1965 refusal to allow The Beatles to enter the country for a concert due to concerns that the band’s lyrics might corrupt their nation’s morals.
